Founded in 1991, the club began in the Wakefield ‘bubble’ located north of Sechelt on the water’s edge below the historic Wakefield Pub. In 2004 the well-used facility was closed due to redevelopment of the property.
A hardworking Suncoast Racquet Club board pursued the aspect of building a new tennis facility. After much research, property was leased from the District of Sechelt. In 2006 the land, located near the Sechelt Golf Club and the Sunshine Coast Arena, was cleared and construction began on the club that opened in 2008.
The all-steel structure houses two courts with state-of-the-art surfaces and lighting plus a lounge, kitchen, change rooms and meeting room. There is an ample parking lot for cars and outdoor events.
